In 2020, Andrew Cuomo, the governor of New York at the time, announced the development of the Office of Cannabis Management (OCM), and Kiley Thompson, the owner of Lazy Day Farm, jumped at the opportunity to leave his ‘legacy” days behind, and become a part of the legal world.
After being a part of the first graduating class of Cannabis Cultivation at Syracuse University, Kiley paired his 15 years of legacy growing with a business plan that included all the projects Lazy Day Farm produces. The result? In November of 2023, Lazy Day Farm was in the first round of applicants to be a Cannabis Microbusiness. One year later, the farm was approved, and in June of 2025, a license was acquired! The plan included a platform for all the local legacy growers to become involved.
Within weeks, word got out, and the Catskills Cup crew became a strong supporter. Over time, specialists were assigned projects, and by the end of June, roughly 280 plants were in the ground, and being grown organically, strictly outdoors, and each strain was chosen for its full-spectrum effects and success in previous years in our specific terroir of the great northern Catskills.
The result? Simply put, AMAZING! Our first harvest was Sapphire OG, which won 2nd place overall at the Damn Sam Cannabis Cup, the longest running coming in America. Glitterbomb did very well too! The other strains weren’t ready in time, BUT every one of them, in our humble opinion, far out shined even Sapphire!
Unfortunately, no retail sales will happen at the farm. This includes no retail deliveries. A designated retail space is required on the premises for those to happen, and being poor farmers without any investors, this will have to wait.
However, we will be able to sell to licensed dispensaries, other microbusinesses, and processors. Income will be used to build a store and a commercial kitchen. Big things are on the horizon, even beyond those two buildouts!

Chocolope
Chocolope is one of the most fascinating products of the marijuana industry. The strain comprises of 95% Sativa, 5% Indica, and a high concentration of THC, which makes it a high potency strain. Glitter Bomb
Glitter Bomb is an indica dominant hybrid strain (70% indica/30% sativa) created through crossing the delicious Grape. Gas X OG Kush Breath Blueberry Headband strains. Named for its gorgeous appearance and explosive high, Glitter Bomb is the perfect choice for any classic indica lover. Like its name suggests, Glitter Bomb has beautiful oversized heavy pepper-shaped nugs with dark olive green leaves, thin orange hairs, and a super glittery coating of chunky bright white crystal trichomes. As you pull apart each sparkling little nugget, aromas of skunky haze and ripe blueberries are released, all wrapped up with a hint of spicy herbs. The flavor is on the sweeter side of things, with a sweet fruity blueberry taste accented by hints of skunky flowery haze. Gelato is a slightly indica-dominant hybrid (55% indica/45% sativa) strain created through a cross of the infamous Sunset Sherbet X Thin Mint Girl Scout Cookies strains. This dank bud is infamous for its insanely delicious flavor and hugely powerful effects that are fueled by a THC level that hits its low point at 20% on average. Gelato has a flavor that’s said to be much like a sweet sherbet, with fruity blueberry and orange flavors. The aroma is just as sickly sweet, with a lavender citrus berry bouquet that has a woody effect as the nugs are broken apart and smoked. Although it has a tasty flavor, Gelato is definitely best loved for its effects. Even with its slight indica dominance, the high is head heavy in nature and won’t leave you sedated or couch-locked.

This strain can reach THC levels of up to 28%, meaning it’s one of the most potent strains available to medical marijuana patients. This strain provides the best aspects of both sativa and indica, and the high is powerful, happy, and euphoric, but with couch-lock body effects and feelings of lethargy. Girl Scout Cookies tastes sweet and earthy, and it smells much the same. It’s most effective at treating anxiety, stress, and depression, though it’s also good for appetite. This strain began as a crossbreed of OG Kush and a near-even hybrid; (Durban Poison X F1). Girl Scout Cookies first appeared in California and is now one of the most popular strains in North America. The high lasts for hours, making Girl Scout Cookies a good deal in most places.
Sapphire OG
Sapphire OG is an indica-dominant hybrid strain (85% indica/15% sativa) created through crossing the classic OG Kush X Afghan strains. Known for its insanely gorgeous appearance, Sapphire OG is a true rarity on the average market. This bud has oversized fluffy bright neon green nugs with rich blue undertones, vibrant orange hairs, and a milky coating of clear crystal trichomes that look almost blue in the right light. As you break apart each super sticky little nugget, fresh aromas of sour citrusy chocolate and pungent diesel are released. That makes this a holy grail of sorts for patients seeking the strongest high. CBD contents, however, are low, so this is not an ideal choice for conditions that respond to that chemical. The head high is intensely euphoric, combined with strong creativity and a whole-body mood boost. Energy levels are high, making this a good daytime strain. Bruce Banner is a highly effective painkiller, but it’s also good for anxiety, depression, nausea, and sleeplessness. The dominant flavor is sweet, with notes of citrus and a strong, pungent smell. MAC 1
